BasicPlus CPR, AED, and First Aid for Adults —
If your most recent CPR training was done through YCPARMIA prior to July 2010, then your certification was issued through the American Red Cross and it has since expired. You will need to take the full Medic First Aid course.
There must be at least 6 people registered for a class to be held. If fewer than 5 are in attendance the day of the class, the training will be cancelled and participants asked to reschedule. To sign up, please email Rebecca McShane at:

Details about the full course: This Medic First Aid training includes adult CPR with AED and First Aid and runs from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM the first time you take it. It covers Adult CPR, AED, Choking, Wounds, Sudden Illnesses, and Injuries to Muscles, Bones and Joints. Participants receive a Certification card, which is valid for 2 years. This class will meet the Cal-OSHA requirement that you have trained first aid providers available at each worksite (8 CCR § 3203). These classes are held in the YCPARMIA Conference Room.

Details about the refresher course: This Medic First Aid training is a condensed version of the full course above, and you must have completed the Medic First Aid full course at least once to qualify. The refresher classes run from 8:30 AM to Noon unless otherwise specified, and certification is valid for 2 years. This class meets the Cal-OSHA requirement that you have trained first aid providers available at each worksite (8 CCR § 3203).
Child and Infant CPR
We offer this course on a request only basis, and must have at least 7 students interested to schedule one.
Driving Safety —
This is a 3 hour student-participation course designed to raise awareness of driving hazards and common mistakes drivers make. It can be extended to cover passenger vans, on request. Scheduled classes begin at 8:30 a.m. at YCPARMIA. Classes will be provided on request.

Lorene is a Registered Nurse who has been working in the healthcare industry for approximately 10 years. She is a Medic First Aid certified instructor for First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillators (AED).
Tom McGuire —
Tom is a Certified Safety Professional and has worked in the Health & Safety industry for 29 years. He is a certified Medic First Aid instructor for First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillators (AED). He began teaching Medic First Aid/CPR and Exposure Control for Bloodborne Pathogens Instructor, through EMP America, in 1993.
Jeffrey M. Tonks—
Jeff is a member of the California State Bar, and started working in claims and litigation management for various California public entities and joint power authorities in 1978. Since 1995 he has held the position of CEO/Risk Manager for YCPARMIA, and serves as a board member for two excess pools, CJPRMA (liability)and CSAC-EIA (workers compensation and property).
